Trekking into the Sahara is once-in-a-lifetime. Whether you’re riding camels, climbing dunes, or immersing yourself in desert culture, there’s no better time to connect with the sand, embrace a new pace of life, and dance to the rhythm of the desert. Here’s what you won’t want to miss:

Camp under the stars with fire and drums. Spend nights star-gazing with zero light pollution while at traditional desert camps. As campfires will keep you warm, traditional Berber drums will keep you grooving. It’s an awesome experience. There will be tons of young travelers at these camps, so Moroccan nights are basically giant desert parties. And, if you embarrass yourself trying to dance to the drums, it will be pretty dark, so nobody will see you anyway.
Catch a Saharan Sunrise. A sight so amazing that it might just cure your hangover. You may have to drag yourself out of bed, but you’re gonna be glad you did it. As the sand glows pink and gold, the sun peeks over the dunes, and the silence is oddly satisfying. It’s the type of view so good that iPhone cameras never do enough justice. So leave the phone behind, soak in the moment, and start your day the right way.
Ride camels across the Erg Chebbi Dunes. This is the ultimate Moroccan experience. Riding into the sunset is a peaceful adventure you can’t find anywhere else. Plus, moving at a camel’s speed prepares you for the slow and steady pace of the desert. You’ll always be able to catch a cab, but how often can you hitch a camel? Don’t forget to snap a good picture, it very well could be your most liked Instagram photo. No need to hide your like count for this one.
Explore Aït Ben Haddou. It might look familiar. Yes, this is where both Game of Thrones and Gladiator were filmed. Walking through this massive mud-brick fortress makes you feel like a time-traveler. You definitely won’t have to hide your like count for this site. Aït Ben Haddou is a picturesque place that you’ll never find outside of the desert. As you run your hands along the clay walls and step over centuries-old bricks, you’ll feel the history of this place.
Sandboard down the dunes. Grab a board, climb to the top, and glide down the golden dunes. It’s pure joy and a little chaotic, but that's what makes it so much fun. You’ll probably fall into the sand. That's okay, it won’t hurt that badly. Race your friends or take embarrassing videos of them as they tumble back down to ground level. Sandboarding the Sahara is such a blast.
Desert explorations are more than just thrilling–they broaden your horizons and reveal a way of life unlike anything you’ll find in a bustling city. So, get out there, enjoy the unreal views, the unique vibes, and the unmatched adventure.
