How to Do the Amalfi Coast Right

A lot of people do the Amalfi Coast wrong — overpriced hotels, overcrowded towns, packed ferries. We’re not doing that. If you want the boat days, the cliffside views, and the iconic coastal energy without the stress, here’s how to do it.

Step One: Stay in Sorrento

Skip the overpriced Positano hotels and base yourself in Sorrento. It’s cheaper, way easier to get to, and perfectly placed for boat departures. Trains run straight there, the vibes are still elite, and you’re not dragging your suitcase up 80 flights of stairs.

Step Two: Private Boat Day to Capri

This was the highlight of the trip. You get picked up from the Sorrento marina and cruise along the coast on a private yacht stocked with drinks, snacks, and a captain who knows all the best spots.

Book Capri Boat Day

What you do:

- Cruise past the cliffs of Punta Campanella

- Sail around Capri’s coastline — the Faraglioni rocks, coral cove, green, white, and (maybe) blue grotto

- Stop for swims in clear water with towels, floats, and snorkel gear provided

- Sip Prosecco and eat snacks on the boat

- Dock in Capri and explore the island for a few hours

- Optional: lunch at a waterfront restaurant with a ridiculous view

- On the way back, if the sea’s calm, you might stop at a hidden waterfall for a dip

- You’ll get all the Amalfi yacht content you want without being stuck on a crowded group tour.

Step Three: Amalfi Coast + Positano Boat Day

The next day, do a second boat trip — but this time, stick to the mainland coast. You’ll ride along the cliffs, stop at secret coves, and finish in Positano.

Book The Coast Boat Day

Why it’s fire:

-
You get to see the coast from the water (which is honestly the best angle)

- You avoid the traffic and ferry mess

- You can jump off the boat and swim whenever

- You end in Positano, grab drinks or dinner, and take a bus or ferry back to Sorrento after sunset

- It’s the move if you want to see the whole coastline without spending half the day figuring out buses or sweating through tourist lines.

Final Take

Staying in Sorrento, doing two boat days, and skipping the chaos = the move. You still get to experience Capri, Positano, and the whole coast — but you do it with drinks in hand, no crowds, and your own playlist playing through the speakers. If you’re going to the Amalfi Coast, this is how you do it right.
